The Divining Rod

by pixyblink/Disturbed Earth

The Divining Rod is the fifth in a series of albums that were released on the AtmoWorks label between 2007 and 2010 and the second of two collaborations with pixyblink. They're being re-released here in FLAC format with original cover art.

The ongoing collaboration between pixyblink and Disturbed Earth is now known as "another Antidote"

The songs on these two albums (The Joyful Mysteries and The Divining Rod) are some of our vignettes...they portray slices of life, and are ambient entertainment, where the listener can take a journey of their own.

Our simplistic and lo-fi approach to sound/making songs, is how we record separately as "pixyblink" and "Disturbed Earth", so recording together works for us, and our styles merge naturally.

kyra is the intuitive and emotive singer/lyricst...whilst I, who has yet to develop these talents, relegate myself to vocal treatments/guitar and pedal harmonium loops. We both share and contribute though, our love of the everyday sounds/field recordings/noise creation, that are found extensively throughout both albums...that help create the changing moods of each song.

Again there are no synths on these albums, only our love of sound, AND what u can do when u live 10,000 miles apart.

Special mention goes to Peter Webb who designed both covers and plays on the song "say those words once more" from "The Divining Rod". The lyrics were especially written for Peter by kyra, something I will always remember with a tear for her grace and understanding.

Happy listenin' folks
