This album does a beautiful job using carefully constructed ambience, paired with organic flutes and percussion, to evoke many of the emotions I have felt when standing in Cahokia’s central plaza: a sense of wonder and curiosity, melancholy for a lost civilization, and a feeling of deep spiritual resonance with a place intentionally constructed as an axis mundi between Sky and Earth.
